Comrade Chimezie Fortunatus, GCLR SUG President UNN
Solidarity greetings ever articulate citizens of the Lion Republic. It is imperative that I send this to keep us all informed and to establish quite unequivocally the real state of things as it relates with the Security policy on Motorcycle owners
THE PRESIDENCY
STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT
UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA
PRESS RELEASE
21/09/2018
RECENT HAPPENINGS ON CAMPUS
Few weeks ago the authority in a bid to check the activities
of Motorcycles on campus and to improve security began the collection of levies
from Motorcycle owners which was intended for the production of means of
identification for the Motorcycle owners as there have been cases of stolen
bikes on campus but when it started affecting the average Nigerian student and
there was outcry against it, I quickly contacted the DSS officials to help talk
to the administration to rescind such policy and subsequently led members of
the executive and the Senate to the Security Office where I registered my displeasure,
and he further assured that it was being done in good faith and in the interest
of the students. Nevertheless, in recognition of the financial implications to
the average student we asked it be stopped immediately and our request was
granted. It has ever since been stopped.
On this note I want to reaffirm emphatically and with every
sense of dedication to service that the SUG UNN 2017/2018 led by myself Comrade Chimezie Fortunatus, shall
continue to be a beacon of hope to the students.
I wish to thank my ever vibrant Excos, articulate House
members, ever wise members of the Senate, noble counsels of the Judiciary and
ever working Hall Governors for the concerted efforts at representation. And to
everyone that has continued to pray and support this administration, may God's
grace see us through.
We appreciate the constructive criticisms from well meaning
lions and lionesses; it has continued to keep us awake until victory is
achieved.
Yours in the Struggle
Comrade Chimezie
Fortunatus, GCLR
SUG President UNN
